Line AI

LINE AI

LINE AI is a new feature in LINE, Japan’s most widely used communication app, officially launched on April 15, 2025. It brings generative AI into everyday messaging—letting users ask questions, create images, and get smart reply suggestions with tone adjustments from polite to playful.
By embedding AI into a platform people already use daily, LINE lowers the barrier for those unfamiliar or unsure about AI. For brands and creators, it’s a signal that AI is becoming part of mainstream communication—not as a separate tool, but as an integrated layer of user experience.
To start making use of it, just go to the LINE Home Screen and select the LINE AI button on the left, or add LINE AI as friend here.

Meta’s Omnichannel Ads: Coming Soon to Japan?

Meta has introduced Omnichannel Ads, a new campaign type designed to drive both online and in-store sales with a single setup. While not yet available in Japan, this will be a key opportunity for D2C, fashion, and luxury brands once launched.

By combining website and offline conversion data, Omnichannel Ads optimize delivery to highlight nearby stores, showcase product availability, and boost foot traffic.

In Japan, where offline retail remains vital, connecting digital ads with in-store results will become essential. Brands should start preparing for advanced measurement and offline conversion tracking to stay ahead.

ChatGPT has introduced a new shopping assistant feature. By simply describing the type of product you’re looking for, the AI can organize and present relevant options based on price, specifications, and user reviews. Products are displayed in a carousel format with images, and users can easily access detailed information and purchase links. The feature supports Japanese, making it accessible for users in Japan as well.

It’s currently rolling out across Plus, Pro, and Free plans, and will soon be available even without a ChatGPT account. Perplexity AI is also offering a similar shopping experience, signaling that AI-powered product discovery could soon become the new standard in online shopping.
